Q: Are my athletic shoes washable by machine?

 

A: The great majority of athletic shoes you can not wash in a washing machine, however there some shoes that can be washed by machine—primarily tennis shoes and other cloth shoes. For most athletic shoes, though, washing them in a machine could possibly destroy the fibers used to make the shoes.

If you need to clean your athletic shoes, you can wash them in soapy water by hand. But be careful, because you should never use powders or detergents composed with chemicals that could damage the shoe. And be sure to allow you shoes to dry naturally, forcing them dry may also warp the fibers of the shoe.
